Luz del Alba

My name is Luz and I live with my mother and older sister in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The three of us have always been close and have relied on one another for everything, particularly in the absence of my father from the time I was a young girl. Though I have always struggled without the influence of a father, my grandparents have filled the gap in tremendous ways, even taking us in during an illness my mother battled when I was young. I grew up in a Christian home, but began a personal relationship with God after Young Life camp in 2014. Currently I’m learning more about Him, how to walk, talk, and live, with Him and for Him. I am the team leader of a club in my community and love to support and encourage teens, reminding them always that they are loved by God and never alone.

As a Developing Global Leader, I have the opportunity to grow my greatest passion into a career by studying music at Universidad Autónoma of Santo Domingo. Already a long-time member in the music ministry at my church, I dream of the opportunity to bring music to teens of scarce resources as an opportunity to share about God. I would also like to teach and train churches and ministries in new approaches to leading people in worship. I will be the first in my family to graduate from university.
