Rahel

My name is Rahel and I was raised in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, with my mother, brother, and younger sister. We faced a great deal of struggle together, but always rested in the knowledge that God was our shepherd. Due to our economic hardships, I grew up quickly and began working from a young age to contribute to the well-being of our family. I was greatly influenced by my involvement in church and grew tremendously from their support and the opportunities for training and leadership within my community. As a Young Life leader, I desire to meet kids where they are and be a voice of hope and encouragement to them.

I have a heart to listen and a spirit of humility, and I love to lean in and grow from each encounter. It is from this posture that I want to begin my time as a Developing Global Leader. I am a student at Seminari Mekanissa Business & Leadership College and am pursuing a degree in psychology. In my country, the profession of psychology is not well recognized but there is a desperate need in the community for support during family crisis, relational conflict, and depression. It is my desire to educate and equip people with the tools to grow and overcome whatever challenges they face, with the hopes of always communicating the love of God to each person I encounter.
