Venezuela

Venezuela meaning "little Venice" was named because the costal homes were built on stilts reminding the Spanish of Venice, Italy. Venezuela is roughly the size of Texas and Oklahoma combined and is supported mainly by the oil industry. About two-thirds of the school aged population do not attend secondary school because they are unable to afford the necessary books and transportation. Venezuelans take great pride in their country and are known for their honesty, generosity, and a good sense of humor.

Young Life (Vida Joven) in Venezuela has been in existence since 2001. Currently, there are approximately 50 kids attending club, and the staff is hopeful to start a second club in the near future.
