Israel

Although Israel is politically a relatively young country, its borders contain some of the world’s most historically rich land. Located on the western coast of the Mediterranean Sea and adjoining countries of Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, Israel is a country full of modern conveniences and ancient landmarks. Many of the world’s religions, including Christianity, Islam, Judaism and Baha’i, have holy locations found within Israel, which has created a long history of conflict in the region. Currently the only predominantly Jewish country in the world, it is host to large populations of Jewish immigrants from around the world, along with the native Jews. However, there is also a growing number of Arabs, who now equal about 20 percent of the population.
